Planner (Microsoft Projects Online)


We have an exciting opportunity for a Planner to join an expanding team based in Somerset. Our client has a wealth of knowledge and experience providing expert services to the Water sector. Due to an increasing workload, they are seeking an enthusiastic candidate to join their skilled MEICA Planning Team.



Due to the continued success of their internal delivery team, they are investing and growing their MEICA team who have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, confident and motivated planner who is experienced with Microsoft Projects Online to join the team.

The planner will work as part of a multi-disciplined engineering programme team involved in upgrading the company’s communication system.

Our client currently uses approximately 2800 BT Openreach PSTN services to communicate to its many telemetry outstations, as of 2025, the PSTN network across the UK will be withdrawn from service. A programme team is now being formed to deliver a major infrastructure upgrade; ensuring our telemetry communication system remains operational.


The primary duty of the planner will be to develop & manage programmes and WBS schedules, incorporating all activities, risk, change, resource requirements and costs in accordance with company processes. The work will be fast paced and will involve assisting the construction manager to produce daily work schedules to the field teams, the planner would be at the fore front of these scheduling activities.

About the role:

Working with the programme team, develop & identify the activities, resources, costs and durations, and ensure that these reflect project scope, constraints and resource commitments.

In addition to the daily work schedules, issue weekly and monthly work look up reports, to ensure the programme team are aware of the tasks ahead of them, and that any resource constraints are flagged.

Liaise with the project stakeholders, subcontractors and suppliers on all matters that involve planning. Site visits and participation in programme meetings will also be required.

The management of risk and change in regards of impact on programmes and progress is seen as a key aspect of the role.

Assist the Programme Manager in providing input into the project reporting process.

Identify programme issues and constraints and advise the team on options to mitigate and resolve them.

Working with the programme teams system coordinator; develop the Microsoft project online/SharePoint/Teams system that will be used to manage and control the programme.
