MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Here at Blueprint Recruitment, we are looking for a seasoned Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering firm, in a permanent position. Within this role, you will be expected to work on a hybrid basis from our client’s office in Derby, but our client will consider candidates located in Kent and East Sussex. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage the design and development process within mechanical systems, with a focus on the Water sector. -Competitive salary of £55,000-£70,000 (depending on experience). -Company pension scheme, generous annual leave, and ongoing career development opportunities. Responsibilities: -Oversee the development of technical mechanical designs, centred around water and wastewater projects, ensuring alignment with regulations and client requirements. -Create concise drawings (3D models), calculations, specifications, and equipment layouts. -Work with numerous professionals to allow for the creation and implementation of sustainable and efficient design solutions. -Conduct risk management tests, reviews and surveys, and audits to ensure the project maintains a high quality, reducing potential risks to designs. -Provide expert guidance during procurement, installation, and commissioning to ensure efficient and safe system performance. -Guide junior engineers, contributing to business development and innovation. Within this role, you will be expected to work on a hybrid basis from our client’s office in Derby, but our client will consider candidates located in Kent and East Sussex. Within this position, you will have the opportunity to support and manage a variety of Power, and Distribution and Transmission, projects, overseeing and maintaining the project plans. -Competitive salary ranging from £80,000-£100,000 (depending on experience). -Company pension scheme, health and life insurance, generous annual leave, and ongoing career development opportunities. This is a permanent, hybrid role based in London, requiring in-office presence 50% of the time over a two-week period. Key Responsibilities: -Excellence in Health and Safety, complying fully with relevant local specifications, codes, rules, regulations and requirements of all relevant regulations. -Lead the design team in delivery of their responsibilities and ensure a focused approach to meet project objectives and customer requirements. -Accountability for expenditure, drive efficiency and manage overall outturn costs for design with the production of design deliverables. -Ensure all technical work is undertaken to the correct standards and specifications. -Maintain a positive and solution-orientated approach to work, providing honest feedback. -Contribution to achieving sustainability targets, with key focus on reducing embodied and operational Carbon Footprints of solutions. -To organise all elements of design, documenting it in the Design Management Plan and preparing monthly status update reports as necessary.
