Our client is a multi multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy providing structural and civil engineering, planning, design, and consulting services. A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Associate Civil Engineer to join their Catchment Management Team in their Exeter Office.
The successful candidate will be the technical lead on a rang of drainage modelling, flood risk, drainage strategy, and drainage infrastructure projects. The role will involve surface water drainage, SuDS, wastewater networks, urban watercourses and rivers. The high number of the projects will involve integrated drainage modelling and working alongside a number of risk management utilities. You will provide technical leadership on flood strategy/management projects.
Project Management of assigned projects such as strategic flooding and drainage.
Develop a catchment/flood risk management team across the UK.
Monitoring, planning and forecasting utilisation of own discipline team members and project resources.
Carrying out own discipline technical and other work as required on projects whilst ensuring high levels of safety, quality and environmental responsibility
Undertake marketing and business development role promoting the capabilities of the company to clients.
Ensure technical quality of own and teams work in accordance with good engineering practice.
Degree Level in Civil Engineering or other science based subject.
Minimum of 15 years’ experience of drainage/flooding based projects.
Experience of drainage design and designing and implementing SuDs.
Experience of modelling of surface water drainage, watercourses, and waste water networks preferably using info works ICM or Micro Drainage.
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical, critical thinking and organisational skills.
Be able to work well in teams and provide effective direction to all members of the team.
Masters or Higher Degree in Civil Engineering, Geography or similar degree.
A good understanding of the responsibilities of water companies, lead flood authorities and Environment Agency in relation to flood risk and drainage.
Good commercial skills within the Water Engineering sector with a good understanding of other engineering and environmental disciplines.
