Attention all Electrical Design Engineers!

Blueprint Recruitment have a fantastic new opportunity for a motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join an engineering and design consultancy on a long-term contract basis. This position provides a great opportunity to work on a very exciting defence project! The successful candidate will be expected to operate on a hybrid basis, attending the Bristol office a few days per week.

With a strong focus on sustainable and innovative solutions, they offer expertise in areas such as civil and structural engineering, environmental planning, and project management. They operate globally, supporting projects from initial planning stages through to design and delivery, ensuring safety and efficiency. Known for their collaborative approach, they work closely with clients to provide tailored solutions that meet the specific needs of each project.

Key responsibilities

• Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems - power, earthing, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, lightning protection etc.
• Undertakes a client facing role in the development and design and coordination of engineering project services for Mechanical installations, systems, equipment, facilities.
• Managing own workload, updating forward plan of workload regularly and working to time allocations.
• Carry out the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, Amtech, Dialux/Relux, in-house developed tools.
• Checking the design work of fellow team members and external designers in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Preparing conceptual designs with a view to ensuring safe, practical, and economic solutions in accordance with current standards.

Key requirements

• Amtech preferred
• Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification, in Building Services Engineering / Electrical Engineering or related subjects.
• Previous defence project experience.
• Experience of working in a design consultancy and/or some experience of working within a contractor design environment is beneficial.
• Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools including Amtech/Prodesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS and Microsoft packages. Any HV tools will also be beneficial.
• Awareness of the principles of building physics such as passive design solutions and fabric first approaches.
