Exciting opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer!

Blueprint Recruitment are looking to speak with talented Electrical Design Engineers who are interested in joining a leading building services contractor. The long-term contract position offers largely remote working, with occasional site visits in Birmingham to work on a fantastic stadium project. The ideal candidate will have a strong background working on electrical installation, electronic systems and communication engineering projects.

If selected, you will be joining a brilliant client of ours, who specialise in delivering sustainable, high-performance infrastructure projects. Their expertise lies in blending environmental and technological solutions to create spaces that work better for people, businesses, and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed drawings, schematics, and bill of materials for electrical systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
• Collaborate with the design and project teams to develop and implement innovative solutions for electrical installations, electronic systems, and communication engineering projects.
• Conduct technical analysis, problem-solving, and system optimisation to support high-performance infrastructure delivery.
• Attend site visits in Birmingham, approximately once per week (flexibility required), to oversee project implementation and liaise with on-site teams. Expenses for site visits will be covered.
• Maintain a high standard of attention to detail, ensuring all designs meet both technical requirements and industry standards.
• Apply your knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering to deliver effective, sustainable, and practical solutions.
• Carry out the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, Amtech, Dialux/Relux, in-house developed tools.
• Preparing conceptual designs with a view to ensuring safe, practical, and economic solutions in accordance with current standards.

Key requirements

• Previous experience working in an M&E design role
• Experience completing detailed drawings/schematics/biller materials
• A background working on electrical installation/electronic systems/communication engineering projects
• Strong attention to detail
• A degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
