Blueprint Recruitment have a fantastic new opportunity for a motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy on a long-term contract basis. This position is located in London and provides a great opportunity to work on a variety of exciting Aviation projects. The successful candidate will be expected to operate on a hybrid basis, attending either the office or client site once a week. The ideal will have experience in delivering medium-size projects or managing packages on large projects in the Aviation sector. If selected, you will be working alongside a reputable consultancy, renowned for delivering engineering, design, and project management services across multiple industries. These include life sciences, manufacturing, infrastructure, and public sector projects. They are known for their ability to handle intricate and high-profile tasks, such as designing pharmaceutical plants, advanced manufacturing facilities, and overseeing nuclear decommissioning efforts.

Key responsibilities

• Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems - power, earthing, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, lightning protection etc.
• Undertakes a client facing role in the development and design and coordination of engineering project services for Mechanical installations, systems, equipment, facilities.
• Managing own workload, updating forward plan of workload regularly and working to time allocations.
• Carry out the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, Amtech, Dialux/Relux, in-house developed tools.
• Checking the design work of fellow team members and external designers in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Preparing conceptual designs with a view to ensuring safe, practical, and economic solutions in accordance with current standards.

Key requirements

• Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification, in Building Services Engineering / Electrical Engineering or related subjects.
• Experience in coordinating multi-disciplinary design teams
• Aviation experience is essential.
• Previous experience in a client facing role is desirable.
• Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools including Amtech/Prodesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS and Microsoft packages. Any HV tools will also be beneficial.
• Awareness of the principles of building physics such as passive design solutions and fabric first approaches.
