Mechanical Design Engineer – Building Services (Contract)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established building services consultancy in London on an initial 3-month contract outside IR35.

This role will support the delivery of commercial and residential building projects, contributing to the development of mechanical building services designs across RIBA Stage 3 and Stage 4.

The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will play a key role in producing technical designs, calculations and coordinated building services solutions, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality projects.

This is a hybrid role based in London, offering flexibility alongside collaboration with experienced engineers and consultants.

Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Producing mechanical building services designs for commercial and residential projects
• Supporting project delivery across RIBA Stage 3 and Stage 4
• Developing HVAC system designs, calculations and technical specifications
• Producing technical drawings and design documentation
• Collaborating with electrical engineers, structural engineers and architects
• Supporting BIM coordination and multidisciplinary design integration
• Ensuring designs meet industry standards, regulations and project requirements
• Assisting with project delivery within programme and quality targets

Requirements

To be considered for this Mechanical Design Engineer role, candidates should have:

• Proven experience working as a Mechanical Design Engineer within building services
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical design principles
• Experience delivering projects across RIBA Stage 3 and Stage 4
• Experience working on commercial or residential developments
• Ability to produce design calculations and technical documentation
• Strong communication and coordination skills

Desirable:

• Experience or awareness of Revit and BIM modelling
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams
