Mechanical Associate – Building Services Engineering

Location: Cambridge (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 per annum

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Associate to join a leading building services engineering consultancy based in Cambridge.

This role offers the chance to lead and deliver high-profile building services projects, working across a diverse range of sectors while managing multidisciplinary teams and supporting strategic project delivery.

The successful Mechanical Associate will play a key role in project leadership, client engagement and technical delivery, contributing to the development of innovative and sustainable building services solutions.


Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Associate, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the delivery of mechanical building services design projects
  • Managing and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders
  • Overseeing the production of mechanical designs, calculations and specifications
  • Supporting the development of HVAC and sustainable building solutions
  • Managing project programmes, resources and technical delivery
  • Ensuring projects are delivered in line with quality, budget and programme targets
  • Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and design teams
  • Contributing to business development and project bids

Requirements

To be considered for this Mechanical Associate role, candidates should have:

  • Proven experience working as a Senior Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Associate within building services
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical building services design
  • Experience leading projects and engineering teams
  • Experience working within consultancy or multidisciplinary environments
  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities

Desirable:

  • Progression towards or achievement of Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
  • Experience delivering large-scale or complex building services projects
