An exclusive new opportunity for an Associate Director (CFD) to join a leading consultancy in London on a permanent basis, working on prestigious projects in the UK and Overseas.
The selected AD will be a key figure within the London office, leading a multi-disciplinary design team on a variety of projects within the high-rise residential, hotel, commercial, fit-out, shopping centre sectors.
You will be responsible for supporting and advising internal and external project teams in targeting and achieving specific sustainability strategies and solutions and proactively mentor and direct junior colleagues to ensure their professional development is successful.
At all times and / or with an appropriate member of the division’s leadership team or designated person:
Line Manager responsibility for nominated team members.
Taking lead role in delivery and project management as required of the delivery of CFD and sustainability services particularly in relation to large and complex projects.
Proactively participate in team development activities, transfer of knowledge, and assist junior colleagues to support the achievement of individual, team, performance, and development objectives to build a high performing team. Set objectives, monitor performance, coach and develop staff to optimise their potential.
Ensure maximisation of the potential of offerings available using current and future services offered by the team in relation to Computational Fluid Dynamics to support and develop the company's delivery of sustainable and environmentally conscious buildings and associated facilities.
Monitor and control project progress, design variations and project financial budgets.
Maintain professional competency, knowledge and understanding of delivering CFD services.
Continually review and progress, where appropriate, computational techniques to analyse and/or illustrate other disciplinary work, for example: artificial Lighting design, vertical transportation, visual static and animated illustrations, specialist groups. Including the opportunities of software / computational techniques that exist between different discipline packages and CAD or Revit
Support the EMEA director in the development of bid proposals.
Responsible for managing and reporting of project financial information
Carry out staff Personal Development Plans in accordance with the Personal Development Plans Procedures. Report any staff performance problems to Divisional Director/group Director and agree corrective action. Identify and implement all training / CPD requirements of staff within their group.
Implement management and administration systems (timesheets/expenses etc), co-ordinate holiday leave within group.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
An Engineering / Energy / Physics / Mathematics / Building Services related Bachelor's degree, or equivalent in a relevant subject and desirable to have a CFD / Engineering / Physics / Mathematics / Energy related Master's degree, or equivalent in a relevant subject.
Membership of and working towards Practitioner / Chartered (or equivalent) member of an appropriate industry association e.g. IMechE / IoP / IMA.
Desirable to have formal training / certificate of completion from CFD vendor training courses, ideally in ANSYS software(s).
Appropriate amount of people management experience, with the ability to demonstrate successful development of others.
Successfully delivered and produced reports in six or more of the following CFD modelling;
Data Centre cooling & optimisation,
Indoor Temperature / Thermal Comfort Studies,
Atria Thermal Studies,
Auditoria thermal and airflow comfort,
Industrial / process factory / clean room performance studies,
Outdoor Thermal Comfort / UTCI studies,
Natural Ventilation / Mixed Mode Ventilated Façade,
Car Park Ventilation,
Mass and Form studies,
Outdoor Air Intake / Exhaust Separation studies,
Pedestrian Comfort Studies.
Desirable to have successful delivered and produced reports in any of the following;
Tunnel Ventilation Study,
Tunnel Fire/Smoke Study,
Atmospheric Dispersion Study,
Water Pollution Study,
Rotating / Moving Mesh reliant studies,
Snow and Snow Drift Studies,
Successful delivery in each of the following sectors; Data Centres, Office in addition to delivery in two or more of the following sectors; Education, Science and Technology, Hospitality, Industrial, Retail, Sports / Leisure.
Desirable to have delivery in two of the following sectors; Museum, Pharma / biotech, Transport (Airports, Rail, Bus), Energy (oil/ gas, solar, hydroelectric, etc), Water, Media (TV/Radio/Film), Government (courts/police/prisons etc), Healthcare.
Must be proactive in improving processes and driving projects.
Knowledge and experience of independent reports / data to successfully review and complete a Modelling Study:
HVAC Equipment Manufacturer Product Performance Datasheets.
HVAC equipment controls specifications
Air Tightness Test Reports
BMS / BEMS Controls
Excellent knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics enabling understanding of the appropriate application of CFD modelling in relation to transient vs steady state, turbulence model complexity, radiation modelling, modelling of particulates / scalar transport amongst other considerations.
Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and team working skills.
Personable self-starter with the ability to project a positive ‘can do’ professional attitude at all times.
Ability to cope with frequent and varied tasks and prioritise workload according to the needs of the Service, maintaining good working relationships at all times.
Developing skills in project management. Skilled in supervision.
Competency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
Skilled in using Rhino or similar for geometry creation and simplification.
Skilled in using Ansys Fluent and / or CFX software.
Skilled in 6 SigmaRoom CFD software.
Proficiency in at least one computer programming language such as C, C++, Python, and / or FORTRAN.
Desirable to be competent in using at least one of the following; AutoCAD, Revit
Desirable to have skill in using proprietary meshing software such as hypermesh.
