Our client are a global manufacturing company who have a fantastic opportunity for a Buyer to join their Indirect Materials & Services Team in Eastleigh. The selected candidate will join their Purchasing department reporting into the Purchasing Manager.

The core objective of this role is to manage the company’s spend in relation to key Indirect
materials, services and Capex items ensuring supply at the lowest possible acquisition cost in accordance with company requirements and purchasing strategies.

Role/Responsibilities:

Packaging: Cable Drums, Reels, Cartons and miscellaneous packaging consumables.
Facilities Management: Security, Cleaning, Fork-Lift Trucks, Waste, Recycling.
Transport and Logistics: Domestic Road Transport, Export Sea Freight.
Stationery and Office Supplies.
Maintenance Repair and Operation supplies.
Capital Expenditure: Civil Works, Buildings, Machinery.


Specific duties will include the following:


To manage the commercial relationship with suppliers by negotiating terms and
conditions, pricing, lead times and key performance measures.
To keep abreast of supply market trends in order to maximise leverage and to enable the
company to plan projects, budgets and initiatives effectively.
To issue purchase orders and negotiate contracts on behalf of the Company for the supply
of approved goods and services – utilising the Company’s E-Procurement system where
appropriate.
To ensure the most efficient and ethical methods of purchasing administration are
employed and to manage compliance to corporate governance rules.
To Maintain accurate SAP records relating to the supplier base, category spend and
provide data to support the Purchasing Manager with strategic decision making.
To manage the vendor rating and approval processes in conjunction with internal and
external audit procedures and to manage supply risks.

 

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Degree Qualified or equivalent.

  • Experience operating in a dynamic commercial environment.

  • You will be able to demonstrate an advanced commercial acumen and excellent analytical skills together with the ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and internal customers.

  • An excellent working knowledge of Microsoft office will be essential.

  • Experience of SAP will be appreciated.

  • The successful candidate will be proactive by nature and must possess persuasive
    interpersonal skills enabling lasting and influential relationships to be built.

  • Tenacity, resilience and the drive to succeed in a commercial environment are additional qualities required in this role.
