An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Method Integration Engineer, to work for Rolls-Royce SMR in Derby or Warrington on projects that will contribute to the global reduction of carbon emissions. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in the design project for a new nuclear power station and the establishment of a world class testing capability. About the Role:

The Method Integration Engineer will be working closely with the reactor plant analysis and code validations teams to implement and manage software development tools, systems and processes to facilitate an efficient analysis programme. This will involve developing pre and post processing tools, facilitating controlled data transfer between analysis methods and managing the cloud based platform to host the analysis methods.

About You:

You will be a Chartered Engineer (or similar) and have a degree in Physics, Engineering or a related development discipline. You will also have:

  • Experience of software engineering development processes and tools, using Python and preferably Git.
  • Knowledge of reactor plant analysis methods and processes, including understanding of toolsets involved in analysing core physics, plant thermal hydraulics, stress assessments and severe accident analyses.

  • Experience of software development in Python, software integration and testing.

  • Strong planning and organisational skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities of the Role will be:

  • Work with relevant bodies to understand the technical requirements of the nuclear reactor plant analysis methods and to develop tools, systems and processes that advance the analysis programmes, including facilitating efficient and controlled data transfers and formal coupling of code.
  • Work with the IT department to manage the cloud based computing platform (AZURE), including the management of remote machines and setting up frameworks for parallel processing.

  • Develop and manage the tool set required to enable an efficient analysis work stream, including development of pre and post processing tools, common databases and workflow management.

  • Interact with external parties which are leading best practise on method development and coupling analysis methods typically used within the nuclear industry.

  • Understand and articulate any technical and programme risks.
