Duties and Responsibilities (for the African Region): 

  • Review third party conditions of contract or recommending conditions of contract as the case may be, reporting on onerous conditions of third party and providing commercial, contracting and Quantity Surveying expertise

  • Liaising with Project Directors/Managers, prepare, review and consolidate submission and certification of interim and final payment applications including viable variations and claims

  • Liaising and working with Project Directors/Managers and overseas colleagues to ensure financial reporting is timely, accurate and includes a review of risks and opportunities

  • Identify areas of risk and to recommend methods of mitigating such risks

  • Ensure that project costs are allocated correctly, and that forecasts and income reports are readily available and supported by statutory financial accounts

  • Liaise with accounts departments and ensure cost information is updated and available on a timely basis for Project Teams 

  • Prepare commercial enquiry documents, evaluate tenders and subsequently prepare Agreements, Contracts (mainly FIDIC based) and Sub-contracts including those for Design Services and Consultancy and ensure the Company’s position is adequately protected

  • Respond to contract claims raised by others handling arbitration/litigation arising from contractual disputes

  • Contract Administration including programme and progress (by others), cash flow, vetting, liaising as required with third parties, budget preparation, feedback to interested parties etc.

      Knowledge and experience: 

  • Strong commercial background with some overseas contract experience

  • QS experience in the Civil and M&E Engineering, building works field

  • At least 10 years’ experience

  • Desirable knowledge of Causeway software, Primavera  

The role will require regular overseas travel when conditions are safe to do so.
