We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to bring their technical expertise to our client’s forward-thinking engineering consultancy, on a contract basis. This opportunity offers a hybrid working arrangement, whereby the chosen applicant will be working three days a week from our client’s office, located near Reading. Expand your knowledge and skills across a range of Commercial and Shell and Core projects.

-Competitive hourly rate of £40-£45 (depending on experience).

-Hybrid working arrangement (three days on-site).

Responsibilities:

-Develop detailed mechanical system designs, from concept through to completion, across a variety of Shell and Core and Commercial projects.

-Create in-depth mechanical system drawings, specifications, layout, and model coordination using BIM workflows and other relevant software tools.

-Ensure all designs and works comply with relevant industry regulations, standards, and codes, whilst ensuring buildability, operational efficiency, sustainability, and accuracy.

-Liaise with engineers, contractors, and clients, to identify potential issues and implement proactive solutions, whilst managing edits and changes to system designs.

-Promote project development initiatives, focusing on improving design processes, methodologies, and standards, allowing for consistency, sustainability, and efficiency.

Requirements:

-Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a similar discipline, ideally with a chartered status or actively working towards attaining one.

-Extensive experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, or related position, operating on complex Core and Shell and Commercial projects.

-Significant understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, and key elements, with an acknowledgement of relevant industry standards, regulations, and legislation.

-Demonstrable experience with designing and developing mechanical and electrical systems, using relevant software tools, such as Revit and AutoCAD.

-Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks timely and effectively, whilst assuming a proactive mindset.

-Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to business and project development and growth.
