We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to bring their technical expertise and join our client’s engineering consultancy, on a contract basis. This opportunity offers a hybrid working arrangement, whereby the chosen applicant will be working one day a week from our client’s office, located in Nottingham. -Competitive hourly rate of £40-£50 per hour (depending on experience). -Hybrid working arrangement (one day in office). Responsibilities: -Develop detailed mechanical system designs, from concept through to completion, on MOD and prison projects. -Create in-depth mechanical system drawings and specifications. -Ensure all designs and works comply with relevant industry regulations, standards, and codes, whilst ensuring buildability, operational efficiency, sustainability, and accuracy. -Liaise with engineers, contractors, and clients, to identify potential issues and implement proactive solutions, whilst managing edits and changes to system designs. -Promote project development initiatives, focusing on improving design processes, methodologies, and standards, allowing for consistency, sustainability, and efficiency. Requirements: -Extensive experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, or related position, operating on MOD projects. -BPSS Clearance required -Significant understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC), and key elements, with an acknowledgement of relevant industry standards, regulations, and legislation. -Demonstrable experience with designing and developing mechanical and electrical systems, using relevant software tools. -Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks timely and effectively, whilst assuming a proactive mindset. -Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to business and project development and growth. This is an unmissable opportunity to join a leading engineering consultancy, on a contract basis, outside IR35, operating from one of their offices in Nottingham, Kent, or Bristol. Responsibilities: -Produce and develop intricate civil system concepts and in-depth drainage solutions and strategies, across a variety of Residential projects. -Establish detailed levels strategies and earthwork evaluations, whilst creating and developing accurate design and construction drawings. -Maintain key planning documents, including drainage technical notes, flood risk assessments, and utilities statements, ensuring they remain up to date. -Conduct due diligence assessments, supporting the land purchasing process, whilst also ensuring technical approval for S38, S104, S278, and more. -Ensure all work follows health & safety standards, sustainability objectives, and industry best practices. Requirements: -Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. -Profound demonstratable experience as a Civil Engineer, or similar, working on Residential projects, ideally working on highways, drainage, and earthworks. -Significant understanding of drainage system design, with a proficiency with software tools, such as MicroDrainage, Causeway Flow, and Civil3D. -Strong understanding of Fire Risk Assessments and levels strategies, with the ability to analyse and interpret data outputs and arranging the data into a legible form. -Profound time management abilities, and a proactive problem-solving mindset, with an ability to ensure project’s follow strict budget, quality, and time standards. -Effective communication skills, with an ability to build and maintain rapport with clients, stakeholders, and other project professionals.
