Calling all Senior Electrical Design Engineers!
Blueprint recruitment is looking to speak with experienced Electrical Design Engineers to join an independent Engineering consultancy firm that specialises in Software Solutions and Digital Technologies. This long-term contract position falls outside of IR35, and is based in a variety of locations across the UK, including Liverpool, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Newcastle. Our client is offering largely remote work with just 2-3 days a month office presence in one of our advertised locations, and provides a fantastic opportunity to work on a range of exciting Defence and Nuclear projects.

As a large, multi-disciplinary consultancy, our client specialises in providing Civil and Structural Design expertise across a range of Infrastructure Projects in the UK. The consultancy has profound experience in a variety of sectors, including Energy, Aviation and Urban Development.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing conceptual designs whilst ensuring safe, practical, and economic solutions in accordance with current standards.
- Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems – telecoms, lighting, power, earthing, life safety, lifts, security, access control, lightning protection etc.
- Reviewing progress and reporting any anomalies to the project lead
- Managing own workload, working to time allocations and updating forward plan of workload regularly
- Carrying out the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, Amtech, Dialux/Relux and in-house developed tools.
- Assist with the technical development of junior staff
- Checking the design work of fellow team members and external designers in accordance with departmental procedures.
Experience/Requirements:
- Must be a UK resident for SC clearance
- Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification, in Building Services Engineering / Electrical Engineering or related subjects
- Experience of working in a Design Consultancy and/or some experience of working within a Contractor Design Environment is beneficial
- Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools including Amtech/Prodesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS and Microsoft packages. Any HV tools will also be beneficial
- Comfortable taking charge of personal project deliverables, making decisions on developing the discipline design elements, acting on own initiative and operating in a pro-active way
- Experience attending meetings with clients, making presentations and good report writing skills will be useful
- The ability to work within time and cost budgets as agreed at project briefing meetings
- Awareness of the principles of building physics such as passive design solutions and fabric first approaches
