SENIOR DESIGN MANAGER

Calling all Senior Design Managers with a passion for power networks! We’re partnering with a highly respected engineering solutions provider to find a Senior Design Manager with proven experience in electrical transmission and distribution (T&D). This is a key leadership role, supporting the design and delivery of high-voltage (HV) infrastructure across the UK, including projects for National Grid, SSEN and other major clients. You’ll be joining a technically capable and motivated team with a strong track record in delivering multi-disciplinary electrical infrastructure projects from concept through to commissioning. Key Responsibilities: -Lead multi-disciplinary design teams on high-voltage transmission and distribution projects across the UK (typically 33kV–400kV). -Oversee the full design lifecycle (FEED to closeout), ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and timely delivery to APM/PMP/PRINCE2 standards. -Take on the role of Design Manager or Project Manager for both design-only and EPC/Design & Build contracts, especially those in regulated electricity markets. -Ensure all deliverables comply with CDM 2015, NEC contracts, and utility-specific standards, including National Grid TP137, TP141, and ENA specifications. -Provide technical governance and assurance, including Principal Designer responsibilities and LCDAE coordination where required. -Engage with clients and stakeholders to support business development, write technical proposals, and shape project pipelines in the UK T&D market. -Mentor engineering teams, contribute to talent development, and drive innovation within the T&D engineering space. What We’re Looking For: -Degree-qualified engineer (Electrical or Power Engineering preferred) with 7+ years' experience in transmission and distribution design, particularly HV substations, overhead lines (OHL), and underground cable systems. -Proven leadership in National Grid and DNO/TO projects, with strong understanding of TP137, impressed voltage, earthing, and temporary works requirements. -Sound working knowledge of UK grid codes, design standards (NGESO, ENA, IEC), and safety regulations including NEBOSH/IOSH certifications. -Track record of managing multidisciplinary teams, budgets, and project risks in a highly regulated environment. -Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills. SETTING OUT ENGINEER

Attention all Setting Out Engineers! We are looking for a skilled Setting Out Engineer to join a leading infrastructure provider in a contract position. You will be required to travel to site in Cornwall 5 days a week. This is a great opportunity to work on substation projects, with an experienced and motivated team. -Competitive day rate between £400 and £500 (depending on experience). Key Responsibilities: -Assist Civil site team with obtaining quotes & raising orders. -Complete As Built drawings. -Set out work on-site accurately using plans and specifications. -Read and understand technical drawings, maps, and documents. -Help coordinate work on-site while following health, safety, and environmental rules. -Work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and site teams to keep work on track. -Carry out site surveys and quality checks to ensure everything meets the design. What we are looking for: -Must be able to set out line & level using various surveying equipment. -Must have NG Persons. -Must have previous experience on a NG site. -Be conversant with National Grid Technical Specifications (NGTS). -Be able to act as Document Controller for all Civil drawings. Attention all Senior Planner’s! We are looking for a skilled Senior Planner to join a global engineering and construction firm, in a long-term contract role, outside IR35. You will be required to attend our client’s office in Glasgow, at a minimum of 3 days a week. This is a great opportunity to work on an exciting range of power transmission and distribution projects, with an experienced team. -Competitive day rate ranging from £450 to £550 (depending on experience). -Hybrid working arrangement. Key Responsibilities: -Develop and manage schedules for UK HV substation projects, including tender and design phases. -Deliver project control services: scheduling, prioritisation, reporting, and earned value management. -Interpret drawings, use critical path methods, assess delays and changes, and support risk management. -Understand client needs, provide tailored solutions, and maintain strong communication. -Work with internal/external teams, contribute to industry groups, and uphold safety and environmental standards.
