MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys detailed design work, client interaction and seeing projects progress from design through to construction. You'll play a key role in the delivery of a major laboratory development, alongside associated office and customer experience facilities. Whilst experience within pharmaceutical or laboratory environments would be beneficial, candidates from healthcare, commercial or other technically demanding building services sectors are strongly encouraged to apply. The Role You'll be involved in: Delivering mechanical building services design across complex projects Producing calculations, specifications and technical design documentation Supporting projects through detailed design and construction phases Coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams and project stakeholders Attending design reviews and technical meetings Supporting site queries and construction-stage design updates Assisting with technically compliant and buildable engineering solutions The initial phase will focus on detailed design, before transitioning into construction support and site coordination activities. This role is ideal for someone with a building services or MEP background who enjoys technical coordination, reviewing design information and working closely with consultants and project teams to ensure smooth project delivery. The position would suit either: An experienced Design Coordinator or Design Engineer looking to move into a more coordination-focused role or A junior/intermediate engineer with around 2–3 years’ experience looking to develop within BIM and MEP project delivery. The Role You’ll be involved in: Coordinating MEP design information across mechanical, electrical and public health disciplines Reviewing drawings, models and technical information for clashes and inconsistencies Supporting BIM coordination and design workflows across live projects Liaising with external consultants, architects and internal project teams Managing design revisions, documentation and coordination records Supporting project delivery during both pre-construction and construction stages Attending project meetings and assisting with technical coordination activities The role will involve significant collaboration with external consultants delivering Stage 5 design packages across live projects.
